School Day

School starts promptly at 9am (classrooms open from 8.50am)

The main school gate in The Peak cul-de-sac is accessible throughout the school day, although you will have to buzz at times. The side gates on Peak Hill and Carlton Terrace are only opened between 8.50am and 9.05am, and 3.30pm and 3.45pm, to ensure the safety of our children.

If you are late arriving in the morning (after 9am)

Please go to the office to get a late slip and be added to the register. Younger children will be taken to their classrooms by office staff.

The school day is split into two sessions, morning and afternoon. Please note that if you arrive after 9.30am, your child will get an ‘unauthorised absence’ mark for that morning.

School finishes at 3.30pm

If you need to change your usual pick-up arrangements, please telephone the office on 020 8699 8537 BEFORE 2.00pm wherever possible.

Children who are collected more than 15 mins late at the end of the school day (i.e. after 3.45pm) will be cared for in the school office and the part of our Charging Policy relating to late-collected children will apply.

If your child is absent/ill

On each day your child is going to be absent or is ill, please phone the office on 020 8699 8537 before 9am – if we are busy, please leave a message by choosing the appropriate option. You will need to tell us:

  1. Your child’s name
  2. Their class
  3. A clear reason for their absence (in more detail than just ‘unwell’, please)

The only exception is for absences already notified to the office, such as pre-booked medical appointments or approved term-time holidays.

Lunch times

Year Group Timings
Reception and Year 1  12 noon to 1pm
Year 2 to Year 6 12.15pm to 1.15pm

The lunch-hour is split between time in the dinner hall and time in the playground. As well as our wonderful Meals Supervisors, we have the services of our Fit for Sport coach, who organises playground games with the children. Children are allocated time on the trim trail and on the AstroTurf each week.

During wet playtimes or lunchtimes, staff are allocated to each classroom to help keep the children occupied with indoor games or drawing etc.
