We have been part of the Lifesavers initiative since 2016 (when our launch was attended by the Archbishop of Canterbury). Since then, we have become a Centre of Financial Excellence and have operated a successful savings bank with support from Lewisham Credit Union.

This savings bank allows children to open their own accounts and to regular save money. They have their own savings books and the money they deposit is saved through the credit union. The bank is facilitated by a small group of Year 6 Lifesavers cashiers under the supervision of staff.

Some children identify a specific thing that they are saving for whilst others save a small amount each week to develop positive habits around money. This work is consolidated through our PSHE curriculum.
